Description Habitat: Semiaquatic gravelly/sandy habitat along streams, pond banks.
Plant: Perennial, erect with lower prostrate, rooting stems; simple to many-branching from base, smooth, 4 to 24 inches tall.
Leaves: Opposite, oblong to lanceolate, sessile to clasping, 3/4 to 3 inches long; margins entire to serrate.
Inflorescence: Racemes up to 4 inches long arising from leaf axils of upper leaves with 30+ flowers with irregularly 4-lobed corolla 3/16 to 1/4 inch across; the uppermost lobe the largest and the lower lobe smallest, pale lavender-blue, with dark violet lines.
Bloom period: March to June.
