My first trip to Big Bend in almost three years came during a long drought. I had thought there might be more plants in bloom based on the previous few days in the adjacent Black Gap Wildflife Management Area. However, this was not the case except for a few blooming plants in Dog Canyon at the northeast edge of the park, and many ocotillo at the far west side of the park.
