Description Habitat: Various soil types in pastures, roadsides and prairies.
Plant: Upright to sprawling perennial, 8 to 24 inches tall; rough, spreading stems.
Leaves: Opposite, oblong to oblanceolate, 3/4 to 4 inches long and sessile to nearly clasping; margins are coarsely-serrate; upper and lowers surfaces are rough (scabrous).
Inflorescence: Congested, rounded spikes 1 to 2 inches long, usually 3 per stem, with many small blue to lavender or purple blossoms; corollas are tubular with 5 spreading lobes and about 1/4-inch across.
Bloom Period April to October.
