Description Habitat: Dry rocky soils of brushy areas and open woods.
Plant: Upright, low-growing semi-woody perennial 1 to 3 feet tall with single, branched stem.
Leaves: Alternate, ovate or ovate-cordate leaves on petioles; blades 1 to 2-1/2 inches long covered with short white hairs and coarsely-serrate to repand margins.
Inflorescence: Solitary rose-pink flowers arising from leaf axils 1 to 1-1/2 inches across; 5 wide-spreading petals; stamens united in a slender column; opening in the morning and gone by mid-afternoon.
Bloom Period: March to November.
