Description Habitat: Dry soils; rocky limestone hillsides, valleys, arroyos, open desert scrub.
Plant: Aromatic shrub or sub shrub, 3 to 9 ft. tall with slender, reddish, hairy stems.
Leaves: Opposite stem leaves, blades are oblong or ovate-oblong to elliptic with rounded or nearly cordate base, 0.4 to 2.5 inches long and up to 1.2 inches wide, on hairy petioles 0.1 to 0.8 inches long; margins are crenate with small, rounded teeth; upper surfaces are rugose and glandular, lower surfaces are densely hairy.
Inflorescence: Clusters of very small flowers on single or multiple peduncles arising from leaf axils; each cluster with small, hairy bracts in layers supporting the tubular flowers; yellowish or white tubular corollas about 2 mm across with yellow centers, 5-lobed, with one lobe being larger.
Bloom Period: March to December.
