Description Habitat: Desert habitat; dry, sandy or gravelly areas.
Plant: Low, trailing annual with long often reddish stems up to 24 inches long; stems, buds and leaves covered with fine hairs.
Leaves: Opposite, thick leaves usually with wavy edges, 3/8 to 1-1/4 inches long, largest near base becoming progressively smaller; on petioles 3/4-inch long or less.
Inflorescence: From leaf axils along stems, deep pink flowers less than 1/2 inch across are actually clusters of 3 flowers, each with 3 asymmetric 2-lobed petals; on peduncles less than 3/8-inch long.
Bloom Period: May to September.
