Description Habitat: Dry areas, calcareous soils.
Plant: Upright annual (may be persistant) 6 to 24 inches tall with few to several branches.
Leaves: Divided one to three times into narrow segments up to 4 inches long, the upper ones becoming linear.
Inflorescence: Composite flowerheads 1 to 1-1/2 inches across, 8 yellow ray flowers, three-lobed, and many brown disk flowers; involucre is urn-shaped; 7 to 12 light green, pointed, narrow outer phyllaries and 8 greenish to reddish brown inner phyllaries.
Bloom Period: April to June.
