Description Habitat: Most soils and habitats, including lawns, gardens, pastures and prairies; widespread.
Plant: Upright, sprawling perennial up to 16 inches high (usually shorter), solitary, much-branched stem.
Leaves: Alternate, long-stalked ternate leaves with 1/2-inch long leaflets, heart-shaped, folding downward at night and in cool weather.
Inflorescence: Flowers solitary or in clusters of 2 to 9 on long stalks; each blossom up to 1-inch across (usually smaller) with 5 yellow petals, 5 sepals and 10 stamens.
Bloom Period: February to November.
