Description Habitat: Dry rocky or gravelly sites; sand, clay, limestone, granite, often in oak or oak-juniper shrubland.
Plant: Low-growing, clump-forming perennial with multiple fine, hairy stems 3 to 16 inches tall.
Leaves: Basal leaves up to 3 inches long, hairy, oblanceolate, entire, coarsely-toothed or deeply-lobed; stem leaves 3/8 to over 1 inch long, hairy, narrowly oblong, linear or oblanceolate, extremely narrow at base.
Inflorescence: Small blossoms 1/2 to 3/4-inch across, 24 to 65 (or up to 170) white ray flowers, yellow disk florets.
Bloom Period: Spring, usually.
