Description Habitat: Sandy or rocky soils in woods or plains.
Plant: Erect perennial with usually one scape (stem) 8 to 20 inches tall terminated by umbels of flowers; no bulblets.
Leaves: A few (3 to 6) narrow, linear basal leaves 6 to 18 inches long with onion smell.
Inflorescence: Umbel with 10 to 30 or more flowers, 1/2-inch across, 6 white to pinkish tepals becoming papery with age, 6 stamens.
Bloom Period: April and May.
