In mid June we decided to visit Palmetto State Park, located about 60 miles southeast of Austin near the town of Luling. The park environment is much different than the areas around Austin, with dense, tropical forests and swamps. It has a very well maintained trail systems comprising some 5 miles or so, with the San Marcos River winding through the park. It was past the prime flower season, but we still managed to find a few, including four new species for this site.
