| Description |
Habitat: Rocky, dry soils in open areas; fencerows, thickets, prairies, and shrublands. Plant: Climbing vine with stems up to 9 feet long. Leaves: Overall round leaves deeply palmately-divided into 3 or 5 lobes, rarely with no lobes, 2-1/2 to 4 inches across, on petioles 1/2 to 1-1/3 inches long. Inflorescence: Small flowers with 5 yellow petals with hairy edges, 5 sepals; 1/4 to 1/2-inch across. Bloom Period: April to July. Fruit: Round to ellipsoidal fruit, orange color to bright red with soft fleshy skin; up to 1-1/2 inches in diameter.
