Description Habitat: Dry, gravelly, calcareous soils.
Plant: Erect perennial 8 to 20 inches tall, one to several stems.
Leaves: Compound leaves with 3 to 9, silky-hairy leaflets, each about 5/8-inch long.
Inflorescence: Cone-shaped flower heads 3/8-inch long, surrounded by 5 yellow petals.
Bloom Period: April to September.

Description Habitat: Dry, gravelly or clay soils in grasslands, desert flats and roadsides.
Plant: Flat, low-growing perennial less than 2 inches tall; spreading hairy stems up to 8 inches long.
Leaves: Compound leaves up to 1-1/4 inches long with 7 to 15, small hairy, wedge-shaped leaflets with wavy edges, each 1/8 to 1/4-inch long.
Inflorescence: Cylindrical spikes up to 3/4-inch long with many small blossoms with creamy yellow petals usually hidden by their hairy calyces.
Bloom Period: March to November.

Description Habitat: Dry environments; various soils; grasslands, washes, open flats.
Plant: Low perennial several erect to ascending stems 4 inches long or less; stems and leaves covered with silky hairs.
Leaves: Compound leaves 3/4 to 1-1/2 inches long with 5-7 leaflets per leaf; leaflets 1/10 to 2/10-inch long, elliptic to obovate with pointed tips, hairy surfaces.
Inflorescence: Stout, dense spikes 7/8 to 2-3/8 inches long with many yellow, pea-like flowers, petals fading to a rose or purplish color; hairy, green, pointed bracts about 1/3-inch long.
Bloom Period: April to September.
