| Description | Habitat: Sandy soils in open areas. Plant: Upright, bushy perennial with pubescent herbiage; single stem with multiple branches; up to 30 inches tall. Leaves: Tri-foliate leaves, short- petiolate; oblanceolate leaflets, 1-1/8 to 3 inches long; 2 leaf-like lanceolate stipules at each node less than half as long as the leaflet blades. Inflorescence: Many large, yellow pea-like flowers in long, horizontal racemes up to 9 inches long; flowers about 1 inch long and almost as wide, banner notched at tip; each with a single, leaf-like bract below.
