Description Habitat: Wet soils in open areas along streams, seeps, springs, margins of lakes and river bottoms.
Plant: Perennial twining vine; stems up to 16 ft. long and smooth or densely hairy.
Leaves: Opposite, triangular to triangular-ovate blades, 1-1/4 to 6 inches long and 3/4 to 4 inches wide, bases cordate to hastate; edges are nearly entire to undulate, crenate, or dentate.
Inflorescence: Many small composite flower heads grouped in dense corymb-like arrays at the stem tips; each flower head about 1/4-inch long with no rays and 4 white disk florets, each with 5 lobes; phyllaries are green or pinkish to purplish.
Bloom Period: September to December.
