Description Habitat: Roadsides and open hillsides.
Plant: Stout, branched, leafy biennial or perennial up to 40 inches tall.
Leaves: Upper sessile, lower short-petioled, crowded on stems, lanceolate or oblong, larger ones 2-1/2 to 6 inches long, toothed edges.
Inflorescence: Large (about 4 inches across), showy white flowers opening after noon, each with 5 green sepals and 10 petals, 100 to 200 stamens topped by small yellowish anthers in center.
Bloom Period: July to September.
