| Description | Habitat: Dry limestone or clay soils; open areas. Plant: Dwarf, multiheaded, tufted perennial 2-3/8 inches tall or less with a woody, stout underground stem. Leaves: Crowded, gray-green leaves, up to 1-3/4 inches long and about 1/4-inch wide, oblanceolate, narrowing to an indistinct petiole; covered with long, shaggy white hairs. Inflorescence: Blossoms about 3/4-inch across with 5 spreading pink lobes with white streaks; lower three lobes broader. Bloom Period: March to June.
