Description Habitat: Sandy or clay soils in open areas along roadsides, in pastures and disturbed sites.
Plant: Spreading perennial with several to many hairy, branched stems about 1 ft. long.
Leaves: Alternate, petiolate stem leaves, narrowly-elliptic to almost round, 3/8 to 1-1/8 inches long; upper portion with serrate margins.
Inflorescence: Salmon-pink to red-orange flowers about 1-1/8 inches across, 5 petals; hairy, leaf-like bracts.
Bloom Period: April to December.
