Description Habitat: Various soils in sunny locations; introduced from the Mediterranean.
Plant: Low-growing tender perennial 6 to 10 inches tall spreading to 20 inches wide.
Leaves: Whorled, linear-lanceolate to lanceolate or elliptic, medium green leaves 1/3 to 2/3-inch long.
Inflorescence: Deep blue flowers up to 3/4-inch diameter, 5 spreading, overlapping petals, small red center, protruding yellow anthers.
Bloom Period: Early summer to fall.
