Description Habitat: Dry meadows, open woodlands.
Plant: Upright to sprawling perennial up to 2-1/2 feet tall; branched, leafy stems.
Leaves: Opposite, crowded, on very short petioles, ovate to lanceolate leaves, 1 to 3 inches long, often hairy; short hairs along edges.
Inflorescence: Lavender-to-purplish funnel-shaped blossoms with 5 lobes, darker streaks inside; white stamens and pistil. Blossoms last one day, fragile to the touch.
Bloom Period: April to October.

Description Habitat: Dry or moist, open areas, sandy washes and ditches; desert scrub and desert grassland.
Plant: Erect perennial 1 to 2 feet tall, few branches.
Leaves: Opposite, ovate leaves 2 to 5 inches long on short petioles, grayish-green with wavy margins.
Inflorescence: Blue-to-purplish funnel-shaped blossoms with 5 lobes, white stamens and pistil. Blossoms last only one day.
Bloom Period: April to September.
